The home improvement trends don’t stop (and we definitely don’t mind)!
What’s great about seeing these trends is that kitchen renovations are typically the highlight of any new home improvement trend that’s occurring.
We know that the heart of any home starts with the kitchen and the focal point, or rather the deciding factor in achieving a certain kitchen design style will be based on the kitchen cabinets.
Let’s take a look at what the popular kitchen cabinets are this year.
Matte Black Cabinetry for the Eco-Friendly
If you’ve gone to IKEA lately, you’ve probably seen this popular cabinet style paired with stainless steel and butcher block countertops.
This space, in particular, comes from the Kungsbacka Sektion and is a combination of recycling wood and bottles.
While still new, it’s gained a lot of popularity within residential developments in places like Tulum, Mexico, and other destinations.
Concealed Hood Vents
Residential homes are starting to create concealed spaces with cabinets to match in order to create a more elegant and sophisticated space for the new homeowner in mind.
Paint colors for this style come most often in white in order to maintain a clean and minimalist appeal, especially in rentals or high-population cities where kitchen space tends to be smaller. The most common type of cabinet found in this trend is the Shaker cabinet.
Two-Toned Cabinets
Lately, we’re noticing the push in lower cabinets being two-tone – white and wood in particular.
This cabinet color trend is perfect for any space that wants to achieve a minimalist and modern look, and pairs well with one of the top counter trends which are to showcase collections outside rather than inside cabinet storage space.
Mixed Metal Finishes
Though this trend isn’t so much about the cabinet style, do consider the fixtures when doing your remodel.
A combination of black, pewter, copper, or brass fixtures can help pull together a modern kitchen space. Pair this with a bold color such as cobalt blue or navy and consider adding mixed metals into your accessories such as adding silver stools.
Traditional
Last but certainly not least, traditional kitchen cabinets have been around as the main go-to style in kitchen design. Not only that, but there are many different traditional styles that make it versatile with any kitchen remodel.
Traditional upper cabinets tend to come in a Shaker style and come in a variety of wood finishings as well as different colors. Within this style, the most popular ones are natural wood or white cabinets, especially within residential homes and apartments.
No matter what style you choose, these five popular kitchen cabinets will always have the ability to be accommodated in any kitchen layout and design and trend, so you can never really go wrong with your choice.
